Hello,

Anyone can access the Libraries' catalog @ lib.umd.edu and search for books to see if we have them in our collections. However, people not affiliated with UMD cannot access online articles or some other resources from off-campus.

If you wish to use our databases for searching articles, please come into one of our Eight Libraries to get a guest ID and password to log onto our Dell public computers.

More information about who has access to what is available here. Unfortunately, residency in Montgomery County, or having a public library card, does not qualify a person to access many online resources here in UMD's Libraries.

UMD Libraries do have a Community Borrowers program; however, this is only for checking out books, and not for wi-fi access, nor for online journal articles and ebooks. For access to online journals and some ebooks, patrons not currently affiliated with UMCP must visit one of the Libraries' Eight Branches and present a picture ID in order to receive a guest ID and password for accessing Dell public computers
