Q. I want to borrow a book, but its status is "Check at Circulation desk." What does this mean?

Hello, 

"Check at Circulation desk" means you will not find this book in the stacks because it is on hold at the circulation desk for another user.  To request this book, use the red 'Place Hold' button in the catalog. 

If there is another copy currently available within the University System of Maryland & Affiliated Institutions consortium, it will be pulled and transferred to a USMAI library of your choice within a couple of business days.  Otherwise, you will be put on a waiting list for the next available copy, which will be recalled from the user that currently has the book.

Another option is to request the book through UBorrow or Interlibrary Loan, which you can access through 'Useful Links' at the bottom of the Libraries' homepage.
