If a book is placed in the book drop after the library closes, staff will back-date the return to the day before. Therefore, you should receive no fine.
McKeldin has three outside book drops, one on the right side of the front doors (if you're standing at Testudo, the bronze turtle) and the other two at the back, around to the left and right of the loading dock. Library Lane descends to McKeldin from Campus Drive at Stamp Union, then continues to Preinkert Drive on the other side.
In other words, those wishing to drop off books (or drop off passengers wanting to use the library) can come close to both the building and the back book drop by following South Library Lane.
