If UMD is closed due to poor weather, the Libraries likewise will be closed and you will not be fined for failing to return materials which are due on that day.
But if UMD and the Libraries are open, unfortunately, you will be charged an overdue fine of $0.50/day per item for every day that the materials are late. If a book has been recalled, then the fine will be greater. Go here for more information about fines.
After you return the materials, if they are overdue and you receive a fine, you may request that it be voided by filling out the Billing Inquiry Form.
