The first thing to do is check the WorldCat record to make sure that no Maryland state university (USMAI) has a copy of the book you're seeking that you can request by clicking on the red Place Hold button.
If there are no available copies in the USMAI system, you may use Interlibrary Loan (ILL) to request the book from another library. There are several ways to place an ILL request:
1. UBorrow is a new library service made possible through our membership in the Big 10. It allows us to choose from a wider selection of books, keep them longer, and get them faster. To get started, go to ter.ps/uborrow.
2. When using WorldCat UMD, find the record for the book that you wish to request. Then, under Availability, click the Request Item through Interlibrary Loan button. This will bring you into your ILL Services Account, where you can submit the request. Citation information often migrates from WorldCat, making it easier to place the request.
3. A Second option is log in to your ILL Services Account, then manually add the citation. You can access your ILL Services Account by clicking on the My Accounts menu on any page on the Libraries' website.
A final option is to request that the University Libraries purchase the book by filling out this form. This process requires more time, of course, so you may want to pursue this option in addition to one of the others.
