Undergraduate students can check out UMCP books for up to 12 weeks (depending on the time of the semester). Patrons get unlimited renewals on UMCP books they have checked out, provided that no one recalls them.* You can renew your books online, as long your account is still active and the book is not more than 30 days overdue.
So in theory, Undergrads can check out a UMCP book, renew it after the initial 12 weeks for an additional month, renew it again after that month has passed, and keep it for the entire semester. However, due to recalls, there is no way to guarantee that you will be able to keep a book all semester. If the book is a textbook or another book required or recommended for a class, it will likely be in high demand among your classmates and thus recalled.

[*Note: If the book in question is from another USMAI library or interlibrary loan, the loan period may be shorter, and renewals may be limited (or in the case of ILL, not available at all.)]
