Hello,

A license for Maptitude is currently held by UMD School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation and is available for use at their Digital Research Lab (which is located in the Architecture Building, Room 0111).

To find out whether students from other programs can access the software in the Lab, you may contact them at:

A trial version of ArcGIS software is available by sending a separate request to me at gis@umd.edu

For free open source mapping software you may want to look at MapBox: https://www.mapbox.com/ or Open Streetmap : http://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=4/38.01/-95.84
