If you're trying to request a book and you see Held by: Big Ten Academic Alliance in WorldCatUMD, we recommend requesting the item through UBorrow (the system by which students, faculty, and staff at Big Ten schools request and borrow books, and some other items from each other).
Big Ten Academic Alliance books requested via UBorrow usually arrive within one week and have loan periods of 3 months (with a guaranteed one month renewal). It is basically a smarter, faster version of Interlibrary Loan, but you have to request the item through UBorrow (not WorldCatUMD) to get the advantages. To learn more about UBorrow, click here.
If you're trying to request a copy of an article or chapter and you see Held by: Big Ten Academic Alliance, you can simply use the Request Item through Interlibrary Loan button located within the WorldCatUMD record.
UBorrow is for requesting physical items only, not ebooks and other online materials that are usually strictly regulated in terms of distribution and use.
