Hello,

The UMD Libraries provide access to hundreds of databases, most of which can be accessed by visitors on library computers.  Just bring a current photo ID to a service desk at any of the six College Park campus libraries to obtain a guest account, which will allow you to log in to our Dell public computers and use these resources. Only students, faculty and staff currently affiliated with UMCP (that does not include, unfortunately, UMUC) can access online resources off campus.

Note: there are a few resources that can only be accessed by UMD students, faculty, staff, and research affiliates, as they require authentication with a Directory ID and password even when on campus.  These are:

  • Chem BioDraw Ultra
  • EBL (EBooks)
  • Factiva
  • SciFinder Scholar

Visitors are not eligible for certain services, such as Interlibrary Loan; however, if you find an item you would like to request, you can frequently do so through your local public library or your place of study.
