As your request moves through our system, its status (which you can see in ELMS when you select the Course Reserves menu on the left after you select a course), changes accordingly. You will find explanations of many of the more common statuses below.

Awaiting Acquisitions Clarification |
This is primarily used for e-books. Emails have been sent to Acquisitions regarding purchasing and we are awaiting their response. |
Awaiting Catalog Search |
Item requests for books, book chapters, or media in this queue need to be searched in the library catalog. |
Awaiting Doc Provider Request |
These e-reserves item requests need to be scanned, but the UMD Libraries’ copy is currently unavailable (on loan, missing, etc.). Once RSR staff request the article/chapter via ILL using the Reserves departmental account, item requests move to Requested via Doc Provider. |
Awaiting Ebook Vetting/Purchasing |
These e-reserves item requests need to be vetted to see if a suitable copy is available for purchase. |
Awaiting Final Hard Copy Processing |
Item requests in this queue are for “early bird” books awaiting final processing for hard copy reserve. Processing will be completed once the new semester begins. |
Awaiting Instructor Clarification |
Waiting for instructor to provide us with more information before we can proceed |
Awaiting Purchase |
Instructor or Reserves staff have identified this item for purchase (i.e., the UMD Libraries do not own or our copy is missing/lost), but the order has not yet been sent to Acquisitions. |
Awaiting Recall Processing |
Item is checked out, we need to contact the patron who has it about returning it. |
Awaiting Review by Staff |
Item requests with PDFs and web page links uploaded by instructors in ELMS route to this queue, where RSR staff check link functionality, check PDF quality, and determine fair use. |
Awaiting Scanning |
E-reserves item requests have been printed and are awaiting retrieval and scanning. |
Awaiting Stacks Searching |
Item requests in this queue are ready to be retrieved, but the pull slips have not yet been printed. Printing the pull slips moves the item requests to In Stacks Searching (if Item Format is hard copy reserve item) or to Awaiting Scanning (if Item Format is PDF). |
Awaiting Staff Attention |
Something unusual is going on, requires more investigation |

Item requests where an instructor selected “I will bring the material to the library” as the supply method remain here until items arrive. |

Items in this queue have already been processed and are currently available for loan at a library service desk (or for self-service use on a library or studio kiosk). |
Item Available Non-Circulating |
Item cannot be put on Hard Copy Reserves because of its status. It is always available in the library for viewing in the Non-Circulating area. |

Terminal queues where items that have been cancelled either by Reserves staff or the instructor remain. |
Item Held for Future Semester |
This indicates that the instructor has responded to the "Personal Copy Available for Pickup" email, requesting the item be held for a future semester. Note: Items will be held for up to 1 year from the start of the semester in which they were last used (e.g., items from Fall 2016 may be held until the start of Fall 2017, at which point the instructor must activate the new course). |

Item has been ordered via Acquisitions, and the instructor has been notified. Item request will remain here until the item arrives and is processed. |
Pending |
Item will become available to students (i.e., route to Item Available on Electronic Reserves) as soon as the new Ares semester begins. |

Instructor's personal copy has been mailed to him/her at designated address. This queue is used for tracking purposes only; item requests should immediately route back to Item Removed from Reserves or Item Available on Electronic Reserves, according to Item Format. |
