Hello. That depends on what you are requesting!

For Articles & Copies:

You can request articles or other copies (e.g. book chapters or excerpts) anytime and from anywhere, since these items will be delivered to you electronically.

However, please be aware that items delivered electronically will only be available for two weeks from the date of delivery. When viewing your list of "Electronically Received Articles" in your ILL Services Account, check the "Expires" column to determine when your items will become unavailable. Be sure to print or save a copy before this date. 

For Books & Other Loans:

If you are going to be out of town for a long period of time (e.g. semester abroad or summer vacation), please do not request books or other items through ILL until 10 days before you return to the College Park area.  ILL items usually cannot be renewed and any ILL items that you have not picked up from McKeldin (or your designated branch library) by a month after being placed on hold will be returned to the lending library at that time.
