Usually starting with the third week of the Fall and Spring semesters and continuing through final exams, McKeldin Library remains open overnight, providing a safe and quiet study space for current students and affiliated users. Access during Late Night works as follows:

  • Between 11pm and 8am, the entrance doors are locked, and you must use your UMD ID Card to enter the building.
  • At 11pm Library employees and UMD Police Auxiliary start checking ID cards inside the library. You must show your ID card to remain in the building.

A calendar that includes Late Night Study hours, when in operation, is posted on the Libraries' homepage.

Please see the Late Night Study page for more information about the categories of users who may use Late Night Study and the required forms of ID they must present in order to stay in McKeldin after 11pm.
