Hello,
The general public does not have the same privileges as current UMD faculty, staff, and students, but anyone can use our materials in the library, and you can check out books if you join the Community Borrowers Program (Note: Community Borrower Card picking up and processing ends 30 minutes prior to closing).
The UMD Libraries provide access to hundreds of databases, most of which can be accessed by visitors on library computers. Just bring a current photo ID to a service desk at any of the six College Park campus libraries to obtain a guest account, which will allow you to log in to our Dell public computers and use these resources. You can download and save or print articles. Wireless access is only available if your university subscribes to eduroam, which will then enable you to go online at UMD Libraries using your laptop. You cannot access UMD online resources (such as databases) while off-campus.
You can also contact a librarian who specializes in the discipline you need. All of the librarian subject specialists' names, subjects, and contact information are listed in this directory.
Visitors are not eligible for certain services, such as Interlibrary Loan, but if you find an item you would like to request, you can frequently do so through your local public library or your place of study.
More information for visitors to the Library.
