Like many University Libraries, the University of Maryland Libraries face multiple challenges in the effort to build and maintain collections and provide access to the resources needed to support their institutional research and teaching mission.

The collection budget at UMCP, like many other institutions, has failed to keep up with the rising costs of information resoruces. One result of these budgetary constraints is that the Libraries' subscription to RefWorks will not be renewed. Access to the database will end on June 30, 2016.

Individuals with RefWorks accounts must save their data in another citation manager before the end date of the RefWorks subscription.

Alternatives to RefWorks include EndNote Online, Mendeley, and Zotero. Information on these three alternatives may be found at
